Leslie Nye is a co-instructor with her husband, Casey McPartland, of Focus-on-Defense.  Leslie’s strong interest in personal protection and defense, including supporting the personal freedoms afforded by the 2nd Amendment, prompted her to obtain specialized training in the skillful use of firearms. Her commitment is in helping other individuals obtain the “knowledge, skills and attitude” to become proficient with the safe and effective use firearms for personal defense. Leslie is an NRA Certified Range Safety Officer and an NRA Certified Instructor, qualified to teach classes ranging from introductory, through intermediate to advanced tactical courses, including concealed carry (CCW). She is NRA certified on First Steps Basic Pistol and Basic Pistol Shooting Courses, as well as Basic Personal Protection Inside the Home and “Refuse To Be A Victim”. In addition, Leslie is a CA DOJ Certified Firearms Safety Instructor and has also had extensive training at Front Sight Training Institute in Pahrump, Nevada, in which she and Casey are First Family members. She is a graduate of Masaad Ayoob’s MAG 40 Course, an intense 4-day, 40 hour immersion in the “rules of engagement” for armed law-abiding private citizens.

Leslie also has over 35 years of business experience in professional sales & business development, consulting, training and customer service. An award-winning sales professional, her career was originally focused in the telecommunications industry with leading companies such as NEC, MCI, Honeywell and Nextel. Since 1995, Leslie has worked in recruiting, training and career development. From 1998 through 2007, she provided consulting services and training through her own company, Incite. She worked in  education from 2009-2014 in leadership positions within Career Services. Throughout her career, she has consulted with hundreds of companies across the U.S. including many Fortune 100, 500, and 1000 firms.  Leslie earned a B.A. in Psychology, Magna cum Laude in 1995 and an M.S. in Counseling with a Career Specialization in 2000, both from California State University, Sacramento. She was inducted into the Psy Chi Honor Society for Psychology, Golden Key Honor Society, and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.

Leslie is currently completing a Ph.D. in Organizational Development and Leadership from the University of the Rockies. Her dissertation, Millennials and Leadership: Beliefs and Perceptions of Leadership Skills will be completed in 2017. Since beginning the program in August of 2012, she has maintained a 3.98 cumulative GPA.

In her spare time, she likes to spend time with her family and friends, work on important environmental issues, and ride her motorcycle. Leslie is the mother of two Millennial daughters, who continue to inspire and motivate her to set new goals and to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
